Finale Files

Special software like Finale Notepad allow you to edit music or write it.  If you aren't writing the music then the only other way to get music is to download it.  Now with an upgraded version of Finale such as PrintMusic, Allegro, or Finale, you can use other methods of getting your files.  Before you can edit music you must download it.  Coda has a special tool for downloading Finale files.  This tool allows you to view, print, and listen to the file before downloading it.  This tool is actually a plugin for your web browser that automatically begins when you click on a Finale file.
This tool can also be downloaded for free.  Click Here to download Finale MusicViewer.

Finale also has a web site devoted to those that use Finale products.  At Finale Showcase, you can browse by using their search tool or browse for music by category.  When you see the file you like, just click on the file.  If you have already downloaded the MusicViewer plugin and installed it, then you should be able to do what you wish with the music you open.  You can't edit the
music unless you download it and open it with your Finale product.

If you have tried Finale Notepad or are looking for a professional program, you can purchase other products at Coda Music's Home Page.  For those that aren't interested in music as a profession, Notepad should be just fine.  But, for those of you that are looking for something a little more advanced, you can purchase Finale products with price ranges from around $70.00 to $430.00. PrintMusic is the simplest program intended for Middle School students and beginners. Allegro, the next step up, is intended for the advanced music students, such as high school and college students.  Finale is the ultimate music composition software used by most all professional composers.
This program is intended for professional users, such as college students
and any professional more so advanced than that.

I personally have used PrintMusic! 2000 in the past.  I wanted something a little more advanced, so I got Finale 2000.  My band director, a long time user of Finale products, upgraded to Finale 2001.  We often exchange files that contain our marching music and such.  Doing this helps me get the music before the rest of the band gets the printed music.  I usually edit the music and print it for
practicing purposes.  I am currently helping with some stands music and in the middle
of writing a song we hope to perform in the future.  I have found Finale
to be the best producer of music composition software.
